This chapter discusses the circulation of a plurality of conspiracy theories on the pandemic, with a special focus on QAnon.
Examples of denialism of the seriousness of Covid-19 and public unrest against mitigation measures such as shelter-in-place orders are discussed as examples of a cultural and political disorder that has plagued liberal democracies, above all the United States, during the pandemic.
The chapter focuses on how fringe radical movements have been exploiting the peculiar conditions created by the health emergency to ‘accelerate’ the crisis inherent to liberal democracy and mount subversive attacks against democratic governments.
